Kevin Thomas Brosnan shuffled off this mortal coil on April 6, 2018 after a long, brave battle with cancer. He was born in the Bronx, New York on January 6, 1952 to William F. Brosnan (d. 2013) and Mary Ellen Brosnan nee Reilly.
He is survived by his mother, his Aunt, Catherine Fanelli nee Reilly (Joseph Fanelli), and his Uncle Hugh Reilly (Nancy Reilly nee Moody) and many cousins.
Also, his sister, Mrs. Mary Ellen Cronin (Charles Cronin), and brothers Michael W. Brosnan, and Matthew G. Brosnan. He is predeceased by his sister Kathleen Marie Brosnan (d. 1974).
Also, by nieces Amy Cara Brosnan (David Hayden), Briana R. Brosnan (Jason Linton), Maureen E. Bradt nee Brosnan (Brian Bradt), and Erin K. McCloud nee Brosnan (Heath McCloud); nephew Michael E. Brosnan; grandnephews Joseph Bradt and Logan F. Bradt; and grandnieces Emily Hayden, Sophia G. Linton, and Teegan K. McCloud.
Kevin attended Our Lady of Assumption Grammar School in the Bronx, NY (1966), Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, NY (1970), and studied electrical engineering at Manhattan College in the Bronx, NY. From there he was sworn into public service with the NY Housing Police and later the New York City Police. He then enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He later returned to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse where he devoted many years providing care to fellow veterans.
His favorite music was from the Kinks, the Rolling Stones and the Ramones. He enjoyed on-line interactive gaming and building model military vehicles and ships.
His niece Amy Cara describes him:
In proud Irish American tradition, he made his career in service, kept his troubles quiet and brought out the child in us all. He will be remembered for his kindness, his teasing wit and his enduring sense of play.
After cremation, Kevin will be interred next to his sister Kathleen M. Brosnan in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx, NY on April 20, 2018 at 12 noon, which shall be followed by a luncheon. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Roman Catholic Church in Middleburg, NY on a future date.
